Also traveled to McMurdo, Antarctica, and the North Pole. Retired from military service in 2007.

William McCutcheon Jr.

Captain, U.S. Marine Corps

McCutcheon served as a Data Systems Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1983-2003. He joined as a private and served at Parris Island. McCutcheon attended the Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. He completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Pittsburgh while a staff sergeant and received commission to second lieutenant upon graduation. McCutcheon served a radar technician in North Carolina and Okinawa, Japan; Basic Officer School and Data Officer Training in Quantico; Assistant Marine Officer Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University ROTC; Data Communications Platoon Commander in North Carolina; and IT Operations Officer for HQ U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, and supported 67 sites across the United States. McCutcheon retired from military service in 2003 as a captain.
