RWFI Methane Workforce Resource
Welcome to the NETL RWFI’s Methane Mitigation Workforce Resources Website. We are striving to share information and streamline the awareness of methane mitigation resources by pulling from various sites and plugging those links into one page! The links we share are related to the rapidly evolving Methane Mitigation Technologies with respect to the potential opportunities that the increase of Methane Mitigation activity may have on the U.S. workforce.
* RWFI is not part of the MERP program, we’re simply sharing various resources and information.
Methane Workforce Online Resources
- NETL Methane Mitigation Technologies Program: The Methane Mitigation Technologies Program’s mission is to reduce and eliminate non-trivial methane emissions sources to ensure a safe, reliable, and resilient natural gas supply chain. These non-trivial methane emissions include methane production, processing, transportation, and end-use operations. The Methane Mitigation Technologies Program is focused on developing accurate, cost-effective, and efficient technology solutions and best practices to identify, measure, monitor, and eliminate methane emissions from these sources. The overarching missions of the Methane Mitigation Technologies Program are focused on achieving the administration’s “net-zero” emissions goals.
- NETL and the EPA MERP: NETL, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratory with a distinguished history of delivering solutions for an environmentally sustainable and prosperous energy future, is leading an over $1 billion interagency agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide financial and technical assistance in support of the Methane Emissions Reduction Program (MERP).
- EPA Methane Mitigation Technologies Platform: Learn about key methane emission sources in the oil and gas industry as well as technologies and practices that can be used to reduce methane emissions from these sources.
- EPA Methane Emissions Reduction Program: The Inflation Reduction Act provides new authorities under Section 136 of the Clean Air Act to reduce methane emissions from the petroleum and natural gas sector through the creation of the Methane Emissions Reduction Program. This program will help reduce emissions of methane and other greenhouse gas (GHGs) from the oil and gas sector and will have the co-benefit of reducing non-GHG emissions such as volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants.
- White House Methane Summit Fact Sheet: New Cabinet-level White House Methane Task Force will strengthen interagency and multi-stakeholder action to dramatically reduce methane emissions.
