Newsletter Lists 2021 Funding Opportunities for Workforce Development
RWFI

Funding opportunities to prepare workers for rewarding careers in the energy sector and other high-tech industries are among the many items featured in the January 2021 edition of RWFI E-Note Monthly.

This first newsletter of the new year is one not to miss. It’s packed with information about programs to spur economic recovery in communities that have experienced sharp job losses, as well as initiatives to develop the needed talent in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to support advanced manufacturing and other emerging industries across the Appalachia and other regions.

Important announcements in this edition of RWFI E-Note Monthly include:

  • Deadlines to apply for grants through the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce Economic Revitalization (POWER) Initiative are quickly approaching. Learn about the application process and how these funds are available to help communities that have been affected by job losses in coal mining, coal power plant operations and coal-related supply chain industries due to the changing economics of America’s energy production.
  • The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science’s Nuclear Physics Program has launched a pilot project to support training and research experiences for members of underserved communities. The goal is to increase the likelihood that students from these underrepresented communities will pursue careers in STEM-related fields, particularly nuclear physics.
  • U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration will accept funding applications to support the education and recruitment of aviation maintenance technical workers and the development of an advanced aviation maintenance workforce.
  • The U.S. Department of Defense National Defense Education Program will soon seek proposals to develop and implement biotechnology outreach and workforce development initiatives.

Get up to date on these and other funding announcements from various government agencies and obtain timely information on the workforce development efforts they undertake in this edition of RWFI E-Note Monthly.
