Community Engagement and Special Events
Carnegie Science Center
Since its installation in 2010, NETL’s Energy Zone has been one of the most popular stops at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Science Center. Participants can create their own laser design, generate electricity, connect wires to power circuits, and even test their knowledge with the energy quiz game!
Earth Day
Every year, NETL hosts an annual poster contest for elementary school students at schools near NETL’s sites in Albany, Oregon; Morgantown, West Virginia; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in recognition of Earth Day (April 22). The planet-centric day emphasizes the importance of recycling, conserving energy and improving air quality. Click here to view the winning posters from 2024.
