NETL will host a webinar from noon to 1:30 p.m. (ET) Monday, April 17, to discuss research and development opportunities available within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management’s (FECM) University Training and Research (UTR) program.

The UTR program comprises two long-running university training programs that prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers to meet future energy challenges. These are the University Carbon Research (UCR) program and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU-MSI) program.

The objective of the webinar is to inform representatives from institutions of higher education about opportunities available within the UTR program, which seeks to develop tomorrow’s researchers to excel in highly skilled, inclusive and competitive positions in the U.S. workforce. Relevant academic disciplines include, but are not limited to, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The webinar will feature discussions about NETL’s role as the leading national laboratory for FECM research. Presentations will explore the Lab’s engagement with the UTR program and offer guidance to conduct business with the U.S. government, respond to funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) and review general tips to write effective (FOA) proposals.

Representatives from all academic institutions, including MSIs, are strongly encouraged to attend and discover NETL’s pivotal role in the UTR program. Click here to view the eligibility matrix for MSIs.

In addition to university representatives, the event is open to anyone looking to learn more about FECM university programs.

The April 17 webinar is a free event, but registration is required. Click here to register. Submit questions to UTR-Program@netl.doe.gov.
