Tech Yeah Conference

Tech Yeah, a new networking conference that will highlight how West Virginia-based companies are forging productive new pathways for a brighter Mountain State economy through technology innovation set for Aug. 23 at Fairmont’s Robert H. Mollohan Research Center will feature a talk by NETL Director Brian Anderson, Ph.D.

The conference is organized by a collection of some of the most innovative technology companies operating in West Virginia including Trilogy Innovations, Strategen, Forge, Allegheny Science & Technology, Vertx Partners, IBM, High Technology Foundation, and ManTech.

Organizers describe the event as “the intersection of technology and government.” Interested persons can register for the event by visiting the event’s web site.

In addition to presentations from the region’s growing number of technology companies, the conference will feature informative sessions about how to work with the federal government and attract key decision-makers at the Department of Energy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Air Force.

Anderson will brief participants about the active research agenda of NETL and how it partners with the private sector to research and develop new approaches to attaining the administration’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions in the power sector by 2035 and the broader economy by 2050 while developing economic opportunities in affected regions.

Anderson leads NETL’s 1,300-plus employees and guides more than 1,000 R&D projects and project performers in 50 states with a total award value of $5 billion. Under Anderson’s leadership, NETL has initiated technology development and deployment projects that include direct air capture technologies for decarbonization, chemical looping combustion with potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the incorporation of diverse energy sources — including renewable, nuclear and fossil with carbon capture — to more effectively provide environmental sustainability.

NETL is a DOE national laboratory that drives innovation and delivers technological solutions for an environmentally sustainable and prosperous energy future. Using its world-class talent and research facilities, NETL is ensuring affordable, abundant and reliable energy that drives a robust economy and national security, while developing technologies to manage carbon across the full life cycle, enabling environmental sustainability for all Americans.
