NETL’s Briggs White to Speak at Advanced Clean Energy Summit
Briggs White

NETL Technology Manager Briggs White, Ph.D., will participate in a panel discussion during the 2020 Virtual Advanced Clean Energy Summit (ACES), a global forum for industry professionals presented by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, to be held Thursday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 4.

White and fellow panelists will discuss the current portfolio of fossil fuel assets and how they can be integrated with renewable sources and other technologies during a session set for 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Friday.

At NETL, White manages three research and development programs related to fossil energy applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy. These areas of emphasis — High Performance Materials, Water Management and Energy Storage — are accelerating the development of concepts and technologies to use fossil fuel-based power generation to support the energy transition underway and produce clean, abundant and affordable electricity.

This year’s ACES forum will review a broad expanse of energy disciplines, including fossil resources, hydrogen and fuel cells, gas turbines, wind and solar energy, bioenergy, nuclear energy, geothermal energy, internal combustion engines and energy storage. White’s comments will include an overview of electricity market and technology trends and a focus on the current status of hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and energy storage as they relate to the energy transition.

Joining White on the Fossil Fuel Transition Panel will be Abhinav Krishna, executive director, Strategic Partnership Development & Commercialization, Constellation Energy, and John Hofmeister, founder and CEO, Citizens for Affordable Energy, and retired president of Shell Oil Company.
