The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) looks forward to hosting you at our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, site. To ensure a seamless and informative visit, please review the following essential information and complete your registration.

Visitor Information:
Entry Requirements for Federal Facilities:
- U.S. Citizens: Identification is required. All visitors MUST present Real ID compliant identification. Acceptable forms of identification include: a REAL ID-compliant state-issued driver's license or ID card; a U.S. passport, HSPD-12 PIV, or DOD ID. Visitors who do not have Real ID compliant identification will be denied site access.
- Foreign National Visitors: Department of Energy Order 142.3A requires non-U.S. citizens to complete and submit foreign national documentation in advance for security clearance. This process typically requires 45 days. Foreign nationals should contact their NETL host or the event management coordinator (see below) to be connected with NETL’s foreign national program assistant, who will guide them through completing DOE-NETL Form 142.1-4, "Request for Unclassified Foreign National Access."
- Visitor Badges: Upon arrival, NETL Security will confirm your name is on the visitor list. Security will then issue you a site visitor badge or direct you to the reception desk or guest check-in to receive your visitor badge. This badge must be worn in plain view on the upper portion of your body at all times while on-site.
- Vehicle Inspection and Prohibited Articles: All visitors are subject to a security inspection at the gate before entering the site. To maintain safety and security on-site, the following items are prohibited:
- Firearms or Other Weapons
- Explosives or Incendiary Devices
- Radioactive Sources
- Open Containers of Alcoholic Beverages
- Illegal Drugs
- Pets
- Photography is prohibited while on the NETL site. An NETL photographer will be present during the events and photographs will be posted to the Lab’s Flickr account afterwards. The Flickr link can be shared with you post-visit upon request.
- Departing the NETL Site: Please follow the guidance of your event hosts and Security staff to return your visitor badge and proceed to your vehicle to exit the site.
R&D Laboratory Tours: Those participating in a tour must wear closed-toed shoes. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses) will be provided.

$32.00 — Fee includes a light breakfast, refreshments and lunch. (Tax, tip & delivery are included.)
$0.00 — Decline refreshments & lunch
Please contact us for any special dietary restrictions.
Registration fees for NETL-hosted events are used to procure food and beverages for attendees, as federal appropriations law generally prohibits the use of taxpayer funds for such expenses. Registrants may opt to decline the food and beverages provided and still attend the event without charge. NETL employees who wish to partake in refreshments and lunch must pay by personal credit card.
