The goal of this collaboration is to utilize the analytical modeling capabilities provided by the NASA Glenn Research Center to advance gas turbine models and validate advanced gas turbine concepts.  A number of innovative combustion and cooling techniques have shown the potential to improve turbine efficiencies, power output, and emission levels. The improved component designs enabling these cycle changes must be engineered and validated; however, current modeling methods have been either unable to accurately predict the effects or are beyond the current resources and priorities of most institutions. NETL’s expertise and guidance in ground-based turbine applications will be combined with the NASA facilities and research capabilities to improve the modeling capacity for these advanced turbine concepts.
