Doyon 14 Rig
The Doyon 14 rig is a fully-integrated self-propelled, wheel-mounted rig developed on the North Slope and built in 1986. Doyon Drilling Inc. (DDI) operates on the North Slope of Alaska with five oil and gas drilling rigs specially designed to drill oil wells in northern Alaska conditions. DDI is a joint venture between Doyon, Limited, an Alaska Native regional corporation, and Nugget Alaska Inc.
Doyon, Limited is one of the thirteen Native regional corporations established by Congress under the terms of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). With a land entitlement of 12.5 million acres that spreads across the central portion of Alaska, Doyon is the largest private landowner in the state. The corporation is owned by Alaska Natives with a tie to the region. The corporationís mission is to continually promote the economic and social well being of its 14,000 shareholders, to strengthen their Native way of life and to protect and enhance the land and resources.
