Miscellaneous Carbon Dioxide Capture
There are efforts being made to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from coal-fired power plants by developing additional technologies that do not fit into a category such as chemical sorbents, chemical solvents, or membranes. A brief description of the National Energy Technology Laboratory’s Office of Research and Development’s miscellaneous projects is provided below, followed by any available sources of information.

Electrochemical Beneficiation of Flue Gas
The purpose of this project is to evaluate various methods to electrochemically separate and compress CO2, assess concepts to improve ion conductivity for electrochemical devices, optimize the electrodes and electrolytic membrane to efficiently separate the CO2, and test electrocatalysts and membrane configurations.
