Members of West Virginia's U.S. Congressional Delegation to Address Small Businesses at a Business Opportunity Session in Charleston

Charleston, W.Va. — U.S. Senators Jay Rockefeller (video appearance) and Joe Manchin, along with U.S. Representatives Shelley Moore Capito and David McKinley, will deliver key remarks at a small business event in Charleston, W.Va. 

This Business Opportunity Session, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in collaboration with Teaming to Win, will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, at the Charleston Civic Center.

This one-day session offers a unique networking venue for small businesses and Department of Energy representatives. Participants will hear from Federal and state leaders to learn about resources and opportunities available to small businesses. The event features panel discussions on business development resources, how to do business with DOE, future contracting and subcontracting opportunities, and matchmaking with DOE and other federal agencies. Federal buyers and prime contractors will be available in the afternoon for one-on-one meetings with participants, providing an excellent opportunity for small businesses to market their products and services.

Additional speakers include NETL Director Anthony Cugini; William Valdez and Nickolas Demer of the DOE Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization; Bruce Sparks, Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at West Virginia University; John Maher, Vice President of Research at Marshall University; J. Phillip Halsted, Executive Director and CEO of the West Virginia Regional Technology Park; and Maria Reidpath of NETL’s Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer Programs.

A panel of regional business development representatives will also present:  Judy McCauley, West Virginia District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration; James Bush, Program Manager of the Appalachian Regional Commission; Kristina Oliver, Director of the West Virginia Small Business Development Office, and Jessica Hudson, President of the Regional Contracting Assistance Center.
