U.S. Department of Energy to Hold Business Opportunity Session in Charleston

Charleston, W.Va. — The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and Teaming to Win will sponsor  a Business Opportunity Session Monday, November 14, 2011, at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, W.Va.

The one-day session, to be held under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Small Business Program, will offer networking opportunities for small businesses and DOE program representatives and officers. Participants will hear from Federal and state leaders, and learn about resources and opportunities available to small businesses. The event will include panel discussions on business development resources, how to do business with DOE, future contracting and subcontracting opportunities, and matchmaking with DOE and other federal agencies.  Federal buyers and prime contractors will be available in the afternoon for one-on-one meetings with participants, providing an excellent opportunity for small businesses to market their products and services.

Speakers at this year’s session will include NETL Director Anthony Cugini; William Valdez and Nikolas Demer of the DOE Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization; a panel of regional business development representatives including Judy McCauley of the U.S. Small Business Administration, James Bush of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Kristina Oliver of the West Virginia Small Business Development Office, and Jessica Hudson of the Regional Contracting Assistance Center;  Bruce Sparks of  the Office of Technology Transfer at West Virginia University; John Maher, Vice President of Research at Marshall University; J. Phillip Halsted of the West Virginia Regional Technology Park; and Andrew Aurelio of NETL’s Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer programs.

Those interested in attending the Business Opportunity Session can register online at http://www.netl.doe.gov/images/registration.pdf. Registration is required, but there is no charge to attend.
